Pour the milk into a microwave safe measuring cup. Heat the milk on high for 2 - 3 minutes to steaming hot, but not boiling.
Whisk in the Matcha green tea powder. Let steep for about 5 minutes.
While the tea is steeping, whisk the cornstarch and sugar together in a sauce pan.
Place over medium-low heat and stir continuously at a low boil. Stir for 1 minute.*
Green Tea – When buying Matcha green tea, make sure you are getting green tea powder and not green tea frappe (or latte) mix. The frappe is pre-sweetened. If you do use the frappe mix, then eliminate the sugar from the recipe.
White Chocolate – Any form of white chocolate works. You could use a white chocolate bar or white chocolate morsels.
Stirring utensil – I have found that the best utensil when making this pudding is a heat proof rubber spatula, the same type of spatula used for making candy. It allows you to continue to scrap the sides and the bottom of the pot while stirring. It is important to stir this pudding continuously to prevent clumping.
